Volunteering is a great way for students to explore potential career paths and gain exposure to the healthcare work environment. Martha Jefferson Hospital offers students a variety of experiences in both clinical and non-clinical settings. Assignments are made based on the student’s interest and the needs throughout the hospital. Student volunteers are critical because they provide extra personal attention to support Martha Jefferson’s “The Caring Tradition.” This additional support allows our regular staff to focus on the clinical aspect of a patient’s care. Once the volunteer assignment is made and the volunteer makes the commitment to follow a set schedule, he/she is expected to adhere to that schedule.
