Nursing

Amy Black As the Chief Nurse Executive of Martha Jefferson Hospital, I am proud of our nursing staff and the compassionate, high-quality care they offer on a daily basis. Equally inspiring is their leadership as they redefine patient and family-focused care for the future. Our move to a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility in August 2011 offered us a rare opportunity to re-vision nursing care at Martha Jefferson. With leadership from our Nursing Shared Governance Councils, we have re-designed processes to enhance efficiencies and facilitate documentation, with an eye towards one important goal: increasing the amount of time spent with our patients.

Our re-designation as a Magnet® organization in 2011 tells the world that Martha Jefferson is an excellent organization, with excellent nurses providing excellent patient care. We are proud of this award - truly the "gold standard" for nursing care - held by less than 400 hospitals worldwide.

It's a great time to be a nurse at Martha Jefferson! We are truly realizing our vision to become leaders in professional nursing practice through our positive patient outcomes, our commitment to lifelong learning, our nursing research, our collaborative relationship within the Virginia Magnet Consortium, and our involvement in professional organizations at the local, state, and national level.

I welcome you to consider Martha Jefferson Hospital for YOUR nursing career.

Warm regards,

Amy Black, MSN, RN, NEA-BC
Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive
