We would like for your stay at the hospital to go as smoothly as possible, from registration to discharge. The following information should help inform you about important details about your visit with us.
When you arrive, for your convenience you may pull up to the front of the hospital entrance, where our valets will be happy to park your car for you. Or you are welcome to park in our parking garage or one of our parking lots.
In the lobby, one of our concierge desk attendants will direct you as to where you should check in for your scheduled visit. We will make every effort to contact you prior to your scheduled visit to pre-register you in advance. If you are pre-registered, you may use our self-check-in kiosks when you arrive. If not, you will be asked to sit down with a Patient Access Representative to complete your registration. Important information to have at registration includes:
During your stay, we will make every effort to make you comfortable. From your spiritual care to your nutrition, we want you to feel welcome.
We feel that all patients should be aware of their rights while in our care. Please be aware of those rights.
Having your friends and family around you is important to the healing process. We follow patient-directed visitation, so your visitors may come as you wish. Please click here for more information.
We invite your visitors to try our dining room, located by the main lobby of the hospital. You can check the menus here, or see them posted in front of the dining area for their convenience.
Your physician will inform us of any dietary restrictions you may have based on the procedure or treatment you are having. If you have additional specific dietary restrictions or requests, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
At Martha Jefferson, we know that care of the spirit cannot be separated from physical care. Our chaplains are happy to meet with you at your request, regardless of your religious affiliation.
Because we want you to be able to easily reach out to your family and friends during these times, we offer access to patient and family web pages. These free, easy-to-use pages are provided through CaringBridge.org, a non-profit Internet service. We offer free wireless access for those who wish to connect to the Internet.
Discharge time is 12:00 noon, unless otherwise indicated by your physician. Please arrange to have someone pick you up by that time. If you need assistance arranging transportation from the hospital, we are more than happy to help, whether you need help calling a friend or family member, a voucher for a taxi or a ride on Jaunt.
The Martha Jefferson Outpatient Pharmacy fills prescription medications for patients who have been discharged from the hospital or emergency department, as well as hospital staff and volunteers. Located just off the lobby inside the Market Place, the pharmacy offers a convenient pick-up location. In addition to being a full-service pharmacy, select over-the-counter medications are also available. Patients or their family members are welcome to pick up medications prior to discharge. Any remaining refills will be automatically transferred to the pharmacy of your choice.
