YES, you can get through the holiday season without a weight gain. As you dust off those once-a-year recipes that you make for holiday gatherings, continue to use the same healthy ingredients that you choose all year long. This will keep the calories on the lean side.
I was looking over one of my favorite dip recipes to add ingredients to my shopping list. The recipe calls for cream, cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. So when I shop I will automatically select the fat-free half & half cream, reduced-fat cream cheese and 2% cheddar cheese. And I know, from using these ingredients throughout the year, there will be no compromise in flavor or texture.
These three brands of reduced-fat cheese are among my favorite. Since they contain some fat, these cheeses will melt if you are cooking with them. Just be sure to use a lower temperature.
