New Emergency Department Close to Home

A new Martha Jefferson emergency department in Albemarle County is going to provide certain community members with care much closer to home.

This morning on the WINA 1070 AM Live Well series, Dr. Leroy Caudill, emergency room physician, and Kim Lowry, emergency department nurse manager, discuss what services will be offered, and how they hope this may help peole if they do find themselves facing an emergency.

WINA Live Well – Martha Jefferson Recognized for Breast Center

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) recently awarded Martha Jefferson Hospital a three-year specialty accreditation for its breast cancer treatment program.

This morning on the WINA 1070 AM Live Well series, Faye Satterly, director of cancer services at Martha Jefferson, and Joyce Miller, manger of the Martha Jefferson cancer program discuss the decision to apply for the accreditation and what it means for patients.

WINA Live Well – 2012 In The Pink Tennis Tournament

For all the tennis fans out there – it’s that time of year again! The 2012 In The Pink Tennis Tournament will be held September 29th at Tennis Clubs around Charlottesville. Women, Men and teenagers are all invited to put on pink and join the fun.

In this Live Well segment, hear from event organizers from the Martha Jefferson Hospital Women’s Committee and the Cancer Resource Center nurse at Martha Jefferson about how the event benefits patients right in our community.

Dealing with shoulder pain can be difficult, uncomfortable and even frustrating.  In order to help patients in need receive important information on this issue,  Martha Jefferson Hospital is hosting a FREE talk coming up on Tuesday, April 3rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Outpatient Care Center on Pantops Mountain.  Dr. Stephen Gunther, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder injuries, will share common symptoms and will help you decide for yourself when enough, is enough.

Dr. Gunther spoke on the WINA Live Well segment to explain shoulder injuries and help share who might benefit from his talk.

Martha Jefferson Hospital is pleased to announce a new service that will make getting imaging tests more convenient.  Spring Creek Family Medicine has expanded and is now offering Medical Imaging Service to patients who previously would have had to make the drive to Charlottesville.

WINA Live Well – We’re Open!

The new Martha Jefferson Hospital on Pantops Mountain is now open for business.  More than 60 patients were moved from the old facility on Locust Avenue, to the new building, located at 500 Martha Jefferson Drive on Sunday, August 28th.  Jim Haden, president, and Becky Owen, director of nursing, sta down with Rick and Jane from WINA Monday morning to share a wrap-up of the weekend event.
