CBS19 Healthwise – Genetic Counseling Now Offered at Martha Jefferson

Martha Jefferson Hospital is pleased to welcome Martha Thomas, a certified genetic counselor, to our team.  Martha joined the organization in early May and will be providing both genetic counseling and genetic testing services to our community. In this week’s CBS19 Healthwise segment, Stephanie Satchell sat down with Thomas to find out why knowledge is so important if there is a history of cancer in your family.

NBC29 Martha Jefferson Monday – Device Clinic Allows for Remote Monitoring

May 2013 

Martha Jefferson is now offering a new type of monitoring for patients who have defibrillators. Instead of having to come into the device clinic, thanks to technology, the heart can be monitoring from the comfort of  a patient’s home.

CBS19 Healthwise – Martha’s Clothing Closet

NBC29 Martha Jefferson Monday – What Happens During an EEG?

CBS19 Healthwise – New Sepsis Protocol Benefits Patients

April 24, 2013

A new way of new things in the laboratory at Martha Jefferson Hospital is leading to better care for patients.  Recently, new technology was put in place that enables caregivers to provide screening tests for sepsis (a complication from an infection). Thanks to this new test, sepsis can be detected earlier, will ultimately leads to better outcomes for patients. Learn more in this week’s CBS19 Healthwise segment.

NBC29 Martha Jefferson Monday – New Cognitive Rehab Program Now Available

April 15, 2013 

For people who have suffered a major brain injury, it often takes time to build back up memory and function. While it is possible to get back into a routine, there is no denying it takes some work. Now, a new program at Martha Jefferson’s Neuroscience Center is working to help patients do just that.

In this week’s NBC29 Martha Jefferson Monday segment, find out how with a few extra hours of therapy, patients are able to improve their skills and strengthen their brains.
