Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Studies
Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) studies are used by the neurologist to evaluate for injury or disease of muscle, nerve roots and peripheral nerves. EMG records electrical activity in muscle tissue, and NCV studies record the speed at which impulses travel through nerves and measure electrical responses. They are used to rule out or diagnose conditions that affect the nerves or muscles.
Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
Stereotactic radiosurgery is a specialized, noninvasive outpatient procedure in which a single high dose of extremely collimated radiation with multiple convergent beams is delivered to one or more brain lesions with submillimeter precision. SRS is delivered by a Varian Trilogy linear accelerator in conjunction with the Radionics XKnife RT System. The radiation is very tightly focused on the targeted lesion, with very minimal radiation to the surrounding normal brain tissue.
