Q. I need to have labs drawn, what do I need to know?
A. Patients should report to the MJH Outpatient Care Center (OCC) located at 595 Peter Jefferson Parkway, M—F from 0700—1730, for registration, specimen collection, or specimen drop off.
After hours or on weekends, any patients requiring outpatient laboratory services should report to the hospital concierge desk located at 500 Martha Jefferson Drive at Peter Jefferson Place (3rd floor main entrance). From there the patient will be directed by a member of the hospital staff to Patient Access and Laboratory services.
Q. I have a requisition for a Glucose Tolerance Test, what do I need to do?
A. Based on the test(s) ordered by the physician patients are encouraged to arrive for phlebotomy allowing an ample amount of time to have testing performed.
Q. I have orders for Glucose and Rhogam testing, what do I need to know?
A. Patients should report to the MJH Outpatient Care Center (OCC) located at 595 Peter Jefferson Parkway, where they will be registered for both Laboratory and Infusion Center encounters.
After registration they will report to the Outpatient Draw Station where they will be given a Glucose Tolerance Beverage to ingest.
The Infusion Center serves patients between the hours 0800-1600 Monday-Friday. Patients are encouraged to arrive at the OCC prior to, but no later than 1500, allowing ample time for registration, administering of Glucola, and the required 1 hour interval for phlebotomy before 1600 when the Infusion Center closes for the day.
Any patients arriving outside of the aforementioned times have the option of coming back the following day or in case of an emergency be registered and seen by an Emergency Department physician in order to receive Rhogam administration.
Q. Where do I park and how much does it cost?
A. Outpatient Care Center—There is ample parking available close to the main entrance.
Phillips Cancer Center—There is a parking area designated specifically for patients arriving for services at the Phillips Cancer Center. The parking area is located just to the right of the 3rd floor main entrance.
There is no charge to park at any of Martha Jefferson's facilities.
Q. Where do I need to check-in?
A. Outpatient Care Center—You will be greeted by a friendly volunteer at the front door who will point you in the right direction. The registration and outpatient collection areas are located on the first floor of the building.
Q. Do I need to make an appointment?
A. Appointments are not necessary for general phlebotomy. Patients are seen on a first come first serve basis.
