Learn to like those vegetables
I hear over and over from parents that their children do not like vegetables. Don’t be disheartened. It can take children up to 15 times to try a new food before they like it. Keep serving vegetables at both lunch and dinner, so that they will grow up understanding that vegetables are a normal, natural part of their diet. When preparing for my WVIR-TV segment this week on brown bag lunches the green bean salad was so easy to make using these fresh green beans found in the produce section of the supermarket. They have already been trimmed and triple-washed. How nice! A quick 5-minute cook in the microwave and they were done. I cut them into smaller pieces and added pineapple tidbits for a sweet flavor. Really any vegetables would work: carrots, asparagus, broccoli, zucchini strips, etc. Just cook them lightly in the microwave until slightly tender.
