Dr. Mohit Nanda joined the staff at Martha Jefferson Hospital in 2005 after relocating to Charlottesville from Southern California. He and his wife, Dr. Vandana Bindu  Nanda, have three daughters. Dr. Nanda graduated magna cum laude from Rice University and received is medical degree from the University of Oklahoma (MD). He received his Ophthalmology training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and subspecialty training in the management of Retinal diseases at Rush Presbyterian Hospital. Besides his academic pursuits, Dr. Nanda s interests are widely varied from a strong affinity for the fine arts and music to horticulture and gardening.

Dr. Lewis V. Owens has practiced Vascular Surgery at Martha Jefferson Hospital since 2001. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and received his medical degree from the University of Colorado. He completed General and Vascular Surgery training at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Owens is board certified in General Surgery and in Vascular Surgery. His wife, Kelly, is a board certified OB/GYN and is in private practice in Charlottesville. They have four children. Being a Colorado native, Dr. Owens enjoys skiing and is acclimating to the Virginia slopes.

Dr. David H. Balaban is a partner at Charlottesville Gastroenterology Associates. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency training at the University of Virginia. While in residency, he received the W. Leroy Dunn Award from the Department of Internal Medicine and a University of Virginia School of Medicine Resident Teaching Award. He serves as Director of Medical Nutrition Support Services at Martha Jefferson Hospital and is also currently President of the Virginia Gastroenterological Society. He holds board certification in gastroenterology. He is married to Dr. Lori Balaban and has two children, Michael and Joseph.

Dr. Michael J. Oblinger is a co-founder of Charlottesville Gastroenterology Associates. He attended the University of Virginia for both undergraduate and medical school. He completed his internal medicine residency training and was the Chief Resident in Medicine at the University of Virginia Hospital. During this time he earned the James Earnest Kindred Teaching Award for his contribution to the university. Dr. Oblinger completed a two-year gastroenterology fellowship from the University of Virginia. He holds board certification in internal medicine and gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has served as the Chief of Medicine at Martha Jefferson Hospital and as Chairman of the Board for Martha Jefferson Health Services, and as Chairman of the Planning Committee for Martha Jefferson Hospital.Ý

Dr. Brantley has been practicing on the staff of Martha Jefferson Hospital since 2004. Prior to that, he served on the General Medicine faculty at UVA. He completed his residency at UVA in 2000 and prior to that received his MD from Vanderbilt. He and his wife, Gretchen Wasserstrom, have 2 children.

Joshua J. Fischer, M.D. is a native of Buffalo, NY and did his undergraduate and medical school training at the University at Buffalo. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia, and stayed on to complete a Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Virginia. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His wife, Renee, is board certified in Internal Medicine and is in private practice in Charlottesville. They have one son. As a native of New York he enjoys winter sports and is an avid ice hockey fan.
