Sandhya Chhabra came to Charlottesville from Washington, D.C., where she completed both her undergraduate and medical degrees at Georgetown University. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Virginia, and in September 2005 opened Albemarle Endocrinology. Now with a bustling practice, her areas of clinical interest include women’Äôs health issues, thyroid disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome and endocrine disease in pregnancy. Both doctors, Sandhya and her husband Bobby, the division head at the UVA Orthopaedic Hand Center, enjoy spending their free time with one another and with their two children Vijay and Vaya.

Lisa Illig, MD, attended Luther College for her bachelor’Äôs degree and completed a master’Äôs degree at Drake University. She then completed medical school and residency in internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin. Lisa went on to complete a fellowship in palliative medicine at the University of Wisconsin, spending additional time working with the local hospice program. Board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, Lisa has been with Martha Jefferson Hospital since 2003, where she serves on the Cancer Committee and chairs the Ethics Committee. She is also a medical consultant with Hospice of the Piedmont. Her husband, Kurt, is a neuroscientist at the University of Virginia. Lisa and her husband Kurt have two children, Peter and Katrina.
