Joint Camp: A Complete Guide to Preparing for Hip Surgery

Date: Wednesday, September 1

Is a hip replacement in your future? Join us for an informative class specifically designed to relieve your anxiety about the “unknown” of joint replacement surgery. Led by Orthopedic Navigator Angie Dillard, an advanced practice nurse specializing in joint replacement, topics include: an overview of knee and hip surgery, pain management, exercise and rehabilitation, and preparing your home for a safe and healthy return. You do not have to be scheduled for surgery to attend, however this class is designed for individuals who have been told they will need a hip or knee joint replacement. There is a fee; registration is required.

Wisdom of the Heart

Learn how to use your own heart-centered positive feelings such as appreciation, care and love to create stress relief that not only lasts but may actually reverse the physical damage of stress. This four-part program introduces you to a system of powerful, easy to learn and easy to use tools to improve how you feel. Registration is required and there is a fee for materials associated with this class, conducted by Constance Mathison, RN, Licensed HealthMath Provider. Diabetes Self-Management Training

Diabetes self-management training is designed to provide the individual and family with the skills needed to successfully manage their diabetes. Presented by RN and RD Certified Diabetes Educators, our American Diabetes Association recognized classes are held at 509 Locust Ave. Individual appointments with a nurse educator or a registered dietitian are also available. Insurance may pay for the cost of diabetes education. A physician’s referral is required. Insurance pre-authorization may be necessary. Tour of Maternity Unit

Location: Meet in Martha Jefferson Hospital’s Main Lobby

Martha Jefferson offers tours for expectant parents of our Family Centered Maternity Care Unit. Tours include the birthing suites, nursery and postpartum rooms. Expectant parents will review hospital policies and be provided with information on what you should bring to the hospital for yourselves, your family and your baby. Registration is required for this FREE class. Diabetes Self-Management Training
